Your legal stay is ending: prepare the MOS application properly
Since 27 April 2026, residence permit applications are submitted through MOS. The job is not merely to complete a form, but to prepare the legal route, signatures, and proof of submission in advance.
Do not start with the final day printed on a card or visa. Start with two questions: what makes your stay legal today, and what legal basis should support the next period? The purpose of stay determines the application, attachments, and evidence.
The deadline is a control point, not a work plan
Official guidance says a temporary residence application must be submitted no later than the final day of legal stay. The Office for Foreigners also says not to wait until that day, because attachments may require a signature from an employer or another party.
Prepare these items before submission
- Confirm the purpose of stay and the authority responsible for the case.
- Prepare access to login.gov.pl and an accepted electronic signature.
- Collect a digital photo and scans of every page of a valid travel document.
- Obtain attachments signed by an employer, university, or another party early.
- Cross-check names, addresses, dates, and document numbers across every file.
Keep a complete evidence trail after submission
Download the UPO, the submitted application and attachments, payment proof, and all correspondence. If the authority requests additions, record the request and response deadline in one calendar.
A lawful wait for the decision is not freedom to travel
A timely and formally correct application may make the stay in Poland lawful until the decision becomes final. Proof of filing alone does not authorize travel in other Schengen states and does not guarantee re-entry to Poland. Check exit and return conditions separately.
